Please do the questions on the back side of the reading about slavery. It is here. Due Monday We will be taking a chapter quiz tomorrow. It will cover Nationalism, Sectionalism, Monroe Doctrine, Missouri Compromise, Era of Good Feelings, etc. Please look at your notes for this information. It will be 10-15 questions and then possibly a short answer over Monroe Doctrine, since that is still the basis of our foreign policy today. Remember foreign policy is how we deal with other nations. PLEASE STUDY TONIGHT. THANKS! Today we handed in the Sectionalism maps for 30 test/project points. They had all weekend if they wanted and all class yesterday and all evening yesterday.
We finished the notes for 9-2 QUIZ FRIDAY OVER 9 Over the 4 day weekend, it may be very wise to begin part of the project below. They are to have this done AT THE ENTRY TO CLASS on Wed, Feb 22nd. So, if they are slow workers, or need more neatness time, then I would advise they work on this over the weekend. They will have all period (47 minutes) on Tuesday the 21st and the evening of the 21st.

Tonight please answer the two questions at the end of the video worksheet. We will cover notes and sectional wants and economy tomorrow in prep for the project. You will get that info tomorrow. Today we watched a part of America: The Story of US and did part of a worksheet that went with it. If you were out, you will need to get the sheet from me and the answers from someone who was here.
Homework is to do the map here: MAP Today we reviewed the 9-1 notes, the 3 treaties and the Monroe Doctrine. We also used a slide show to look at other examples of NATIONALISM.

THERE IS A QUIZ ON MONDAY OVER THE 9-1 NOTES AND THE NOTES FROM TO DAY OVER OTHER EXAMPLES OF NATIONALISM. BE SURE YOU STUDY THESE THINGS. THE QUIZ WILL BE 10 QUESTIONS AND WILL COME FROM BOTH SETS OF NOTES. since you visited, here you go. Yesterday we talked a little about Nationalism and why the US, after the victory in the War of 1812, we were feeling such pride in our country.
They were to be sure to have read 9-1 last night. Today we touched on a couple treaties with England, the Rush-Bagot Agreement and the Convention of 1818. We also analyzed a political cartoon of the Monroe Doctrine and discussed the origins of Uncle Sam. He was thought of during the War of 1812. Tonight they need to be sure the light-bulb paper is done, and to bring that back along with the notes for 9-1. Today the kids went with the guidance department and worked on their 9th grade schedules. They will return to class tomorrow like normal. See the guidance department with any questions about that.
The worksheet from Friday is still going to start off our class tomorrow talking about the cotton gin. (You can find it on the blog post below this one) We will move into discussing chapter 9 after that. They have a reading about the cotton gin for the weekend. A large group are getting it done in class before the end of the day. Just check to be sure your student did it. Here is a copy of it. We took the 8-4 quiz today. If they were absent they need to be sure to come see me on Monday and get that resolved. |
