We were in the computer lab today doing a web quest on Vicksburg. They went to the website www.civilwartrust.org and did the reading and watched a video they can find at the bottom right of that page by clicking on Animated Maps. These are states that were slave states on the border between the US and Confederacy, that stayed with the Union. They are important to the Union not only as a buffer between the US and CSA, but also for troops and fewer states to have to conquer to bring the Union back together.
